Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The United International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Digital Technologies (UIJAEDT), published by ANNAM Academic Publishers, is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and research integrity. The journal expects authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher to conduct themselves responsibly, transparently, and professionally throughout the submission, peer-review, and publication process.

UIJAEDT does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, unethical authorship practices, manipulation of the peer-review process, or other forms of academic and publication misconduct. All manuscripts are expected to meet appropriate standards of originality, research integrity, and responsible scholarly communication.

1. Authors' Responsibilities

Authors submitting manuscripts to UIJAEDT are responsible for ensuring that:

  • The submitted manuscript represents original work and has been prepared honestly and accurately.

  • The manuscript has not been published previously, except where a substantially revised and appropriately disclosed version is permitted by the journal.

  • The manuscript is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal.

  • All authors have made a genuine and significant contribution to the research and have approved the final version of the manuscript.

  • All individuals who qualify for authorship are appropriately included, and individuals who do not meet authorship criteria are not listed as authors.

  • The research data, results, analyses, and conclusions are presented accurately and without fabrication or falsification.

  • All sources, quotations, ideas, datasets, software, images, and other third-party materials are appropriately acknowledged and cited.

  • Necessary permissions have been obtained for copyrighted material or other third-party content used in the manuscript.

  • Any potential conflict of interest is disclosed to the journal.

  • Appropriate ethical approval, consent, or other required authorization has been obtained where applicable.

  • Any significant error discovered after submission or publication is promptly communicated to the editorial office.

  • The manuscript does not contain material that violates applicable laws, confidentiality obligations, privacy rights, intellectual property rights, or ethical research standards.

2. Originality, Plagiarism and Duplicate Publication

UIJAEDT expects all submitted manuscripts to be original scholarly contributions.

Plagiarism includes presenting another person's words, ideas, data, results, figures, or other intellectual contributions as one's own without appropriate acknowledgment. Plagiarism may also include substantial unattributed reuse of an author's own previously published material.

The journal may use appropriate similarity-detection or editorial screening procedures during manuscript evaluation. Where substantial plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated material, or other serious misconduct is identified, the journal may reject the manuscript or take appropriate action after publication.

Conference papers or previously disseminated research may be considered only when the submission provides a substantial and clearly identified extension or development of the earlier work and the previous publication is properly disclosed and cited.

3. Authorship and Contributions

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research and who have participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript and approved the final version.

The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the journal and confirming that all listed authors have approved the submission.

Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be justified and approved by all affected authors. The editorial office may request written confirmation before making any authorship change.

4. Editors' Responsibilities

The Editor-in-Chief and editorial team are responsible for maintaining the academic and ethical standards of UIJAEDT.

Editors are expected to:

  • Evaluate manuscripts fairly and objectively based on scholarly quality, originality, relevance, and technical merit.

  • Avoid discrimination based on factors unrelated to the academic quality of the manuscript.

  • Select appropriate and qualified reviewers.

  • Protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and unpublished information.

  • Manage potential conflicts of interest appropriately.

  • Ensure that editorial decisions are independent and based on the merits of the manuscript.

  • Investigate credible allegations of publication or research misconduct.

  • Take appropriate corrective action when ethical problems are identified.

  • Publish corrections, expressions of concern, retractions, or other notices when necessary.

  • Ensure that unpublished information obtained through manuscript evaluation is not used for personal or third-party advantage.

Editors should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have a significant conflict of interest.

5. Reviewers' Responsibilities

Reviewers contribute to maintaining the quality and integrity of the journal.

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Accept assignments only when they have sufficient expertise to evaluate the manuscript.

  • Inform the editor promptly if they are unable to complete a review within the requested timeframe.

  • Evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and constructively.

  • Assess the scientific, technical, methodological, and scholarly quality of the work.

  • Identify relevant published work that has not been appropriately cited where necessary.

  • Notify the editor of suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated data, or other serious ethical concerns.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding manuscripts and information obtained during the review process.

  • Avoid using unpublished information from a manuscript for personal or professional advantage.

  • Disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest before accepting or completing a review.

6. Peer Review Integrity

UIJAEDT uses a peer-review process appropriate to the journal's editorial procedures. Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise and independence.

The identities of reviewers and authors will be handled according to the journal's stated peer-review policy. Editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by personal relationships, commercial interests, institutional affiliations, nationality, gender, or other irrelevant considerations.

7. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any relationship or circumstance that could reasonably influence, or appear to influence, their judgment.

Potential conflicts may include financial interests, professional relationships, personal relationships, institutional affiliations, consultancy arrangements, funding relationships, or other competing interests.

Where no conflict exists, authors may provide an appropriate declaration such as:

"The authors declare that they have no competing interests."

8. Research Integrity and Misconduct

UIJAEDT considers the following to be serious forms of research or publication misconduct:

  • Fabrication of data or results.

  • Falsification or manipulation of research data or findings.

  • Plagiarism.

  • Duplicate or redundant publication.

  • Undisclosed significant overlap with previously published work.

  • Improper or fraudulent authorship.

  • Manipulation of citations or references.

  • Peer-review manipulation.

  • Misrepresentation of research results.

  • Failure to disclose relevant conflicts of interest.

  • Unethical research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data where applicable.

When credible concerns arise, the journal may request clarification or supporting documentation from the authors and may take appropriate editorial action.

9. Corrections and Retractions

If an error is identified in a published article, UIJAEDT may publish a correction or other appropriate notice.

Where an article is found to contain serious errors, unreliable findings, research misconduct, or significant ethical problems, the journal may retract the article in accordance with its editorial procedures.

Retraction or correction decisions will be made based on the nature and seriousness of the issue and will be documented transparently.

10. Complaints and Ethical Concerns

Authors, reviewers, readers, and other stakeholders may contact the editorial office regarding concerns about published or submitted work.

Complaints and allegations of misconduct will be reviewed fairly and confidentially. The journal may request relevant information or documentation from the parties involved before reaching an editorial decision.

Where appropriate, the journal may communicate with the authors' affiliated institutions or other relevant organizations regarding serious research-integrity concerns.

11. Publisher's Responsibilities

ANNAM Academic Publishers, as the publisher of UIJAEDT, supports the journal's editorial independence and provides the administrative and technical infrastructure required for responsible scholarly publishing.

The publisher is committed to:

12. Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of their submitted manuscripts.

Artificial intelligence and automated tools may be used as appropriate for legitimate research or language-support purposes, but such tools must not replace the authors' responsibility for the scholarly content of the manuscript.

AI-generated content must not be presented as the work of a human author, and authors should disclose significant use of AI tools where required by the journal's submission policy.

AI tools should not be used to fabricate data, references, experimental results, citations, reviewer reports, or other scholarly information.

13. Commitment to Responsible Publishing

UIJAEDT is committed to continuous improvement of its editorial and publication practices. The journal seeks to maintain transparency, fairness, academic integrity, confidentiality, and accountability throughout the publication process.

The journal may update this policy periodically to reflect developments in scholarly publishing, research integrity, and recognized best practices.
